How meager and dull life was. How easy it is for it to be taken away at the drop of a hat. Perhaps everybody should just be trapped in the state she was in; that way you never had to get older and you barely felt any pain. But then again, it still wasn’t life. Why was life so important anyway when you have so many other options?
The question sat in her head, but she decided to stop attempting to answer them. There was nothing she could do now as she stared across at the empty bed, the one that had been filled not too long ago, but now just sat cold and alone. Why couldn’t Lizzie go through the same thing? It was always random, perhaps.
She stood, brushing her skirt. It was pointless. Fate and death always had its way with whomever it got its cold grip upon. Sorrow and pain usually followed after. She went through her doorway, not even bothering to unlock it. Would she be paired with a new roommate? Or be transferred to a single? It was unknown. To everyone, the tragic incident hadn’t changed Ember one bit, though it probably affected many people. But the black-haired girl knew how to hide it. And she didn’t prefer to indulge on her feelings.
So she was alone now. Walking. Pondering the quick movements of life and death, and why it was all so ridiculous.
